Married! Sean + Emily

This is Emily and Sean’s magical and wondrous wedding day! So wondrous, in fact, that we couldn’t fit it all into one post. So, today we will share Part I. We are almost disturbingly excited about this.
Truly, Emily and Sean’s wedding was one of the most beautiful weddings we have been to. It was beautiful in its simplicity and its inclusion of natural things. Emily and Sean put together so many details by themselves and with the help of friends. We met up with them at the camp a couple weeks before the wedding to get familiar with the surroundings and get a feel for how the day would flow. I remember walking around with Emily and a distinct feeling of pure joy as she described her plans of mason jars and burlap (among many other lovely things). The land was so beautiful….ferns and tall pines and that great balsam smell. A good place to be married.
We’re very well aware what a gift it is to meet truly good folks like E&S and that’s what they are. They’re like presents in the form of people and I’m sure all of their friends and family feel that way. It was a privilege to share their day with them! And lastly, I would like to say a little something about Sean and Emily’s green sofa, which I will continue to covet. Way to go guys. ;)

yaya - Gorgeous setting! Love the natural approach; and she is a natural beauty as well. Lovely.

Married: Christine + Curtis – Part II {creative maine wedding photographers}

And now for Part II of Christine and Curtis’ excellent adventure….their loverly mountaintop wedding in Newry, Maine! (Check out Part I here) We left off with all the pre-ceremony happenings and will pick up with the unexpected but beautiful indoor ceremony. As we alluded to, so many of the beautiful details of the wedding, Christine collected and put together herself! She’s a bad mammajamma, that girl. ;) In addition to all the beautiful elements, the sustenance was otherworldly good! The folks at The Good Food Store in Bethel, Maine supplied some of the best wedding food we’ve ever had…featuring locally grown and organic goodies! We also want to mention what an amazing job Joanne McDonough of Joya Beauty did on the prettifying! Christine mentioned that she was going for a more dramatic look for her and the girls and Joanne executed it perfectly.

Of all the things one could hope to have on their wedding day….real, true, visceral love and emotion has to be up there. And C&C had tons of it; for each other and for their friends and family and flowing right back to them from everyone. Off to a good start. :) Christine, you looked so stunning and were infectiously joyful and Curtis, I don’t think there could be a nicer guy than you (at least not with such great shoes)! Go forth and multiply…and call us when you do so we can take pictures of your babies!

Part II…. :)

Oh, and look for our favorite DJ shot of all time near the end, featuring our friend Kevin of Amazing Dj Music fame! (proving that dancing is not just for the guests)

Married: Christine + Curtis – Part I {creative maine wedding photographers}

Christine contacted us waaaaaaay back on January 23, 2010 about her September, 2011 wedding. We asked her to check back in May as we weren’t booking that far out at that time. Sure enough when May rolled around, Christine was ready and we’re SO glad she found her way back to us! Both Curtis and Christine are really fun people to be around. Totally genuine and upbeat. They have been some of our biggest champions and muses and we had an alarmingly good time in their presence! We’ve grown quite fond of them. :)

Christine’s preparedness was not limited to finding a photographer, and it paid off big on their wedding day, even in the face of record high temps and a micro monsoon—we were just able to sneak their first look in right before it hit! The ceremony and reception took place at the posh mountain retreat, Skiesta House in the western Maine mountains surrounding the Sunday River ski area. The place was amazing, as you’ll see. It was our first time working with Meghan Torrieri, the wedding planner/owner of b merry events & occasions and we were in awe. She displayed the calm composure of a field commander when said monsoon turned a planned outdoor ceremony into an a decidedly indoor affair. Meghan was also very helpful and friendly to us which helped us do our job and made our day that much easier. Christine, Curtis & Meghan were a wedding tour de force and all of their planning and execution is the reason we had to present their day in two parts. Part I chronicles getting ready, the first look and pre-ceremony…(Part II can be had here)

Engaged! Jim + Nikki {Prescott Park engagement session}

Can’t believe it was one year and 3 days ago at Chris & Kristin’s awesome wedding that we met Jim and Nikki, dancing the night away! When we spoke to them there they mentioned impending wedding plans and we couldn’t help but feel like a grade-schooler right before a game of kickball, “Ooh, ooh! Pick me, pick me!” And guess what? They did! Of course, without knowing them, these feelings were initially based on visions of this photogenic couple gracing our portfolio. After sitting down to talk about their wedding plans and then hanging out with them for their engagement session in Prescott Park & Strawberry Banke last month (Portsmouth, NH), we very quickly realized just how awesome these two are on the inside, where it really counts! We had such a great time with Jim & Nikki, they were great sports and worked it like pros and we cannot wait for their wedding next September! We only wish you two hadn’t gone into such detail about all the amazing comfort food you have planned, Mmmmm! ;)

Married! Kristin + Fraser {creative nh wedding photography}

Of all things that could be considered a close call, sneaking a wedding in before an impending hurricane is up there. Whatever fortuitous circumstances led to it, Fraser and Kristin decided to have their wedding, which was held at the lovely Church Landing in Meredith, NH on a Friday…thus narrowly escaping the winds of Irene. Actually, here in the NH, we didn’t experience as much wrath as others but for the sake of the story and to further emphasize Fraser and Kristin’s impeccable timing, we’re going with complete, cows-in-the-trees destruction. Whew…good call guys! ;)

We had been looking forward to their wedding for a long time and were so excited to be working with such interesting and great people! They are both deeply committed to the environment and sustainability and have chosen careers that put them in the front lines. Very admirable indeed. And they’re pretty cute, too. The wedding was, of course, beautiful and we were so impressed by all the details and hard work contributed by all involved. We were also enamored with all their friends and family which reminded us that it’s not a bad gig, being in the company of such fine and friendly people all the time. We hope that we were able to tell their story well through the following photographs and convey even a microcosm of the great love that day. There is a line in an Ani DiFranco song that goes: “It took me too long to realize that I don’t take good pictures ’cause I have the kind of beauty that moves.” Though I’m sure we could all agree that Kristin and Fraser are quite photogenic, I do believe it’s hard to capture the real life beauty of anything and we’re just happy we got to witness it. Congratulations guys and I’m sorry, but I hope your love has a ridiculously huge footprint! ;)
