Engaged! Steve + Lauren {burlington, vermont engagement}

We find ourselves in VT again for Lauren and Steve’s e-session! They are world travelers (Steve is actually from South Africa) so we had to sneak their e-session in just a few weeks before their wedding. We frolicked in Burlington for a few hours, stopped at a happy little tea house and found some tucked away places. It’s always fun to get to know the nuances of each couple and a pleasure to capture. :) Steve and Lauren were fantastic company and had such an easy way with each other.

Steve Fisher, a world-renowned whitewater kayaker, just completed filming and editing “CONGO, The Grand Inga Project,” an AMAZING documentary about the first descent (him and his team) of the the world’s biggest rapids on the Congo River. So with that excitement fresh in his mind, he and Lauren were now ready to embrace the excitement of getting hitched! We were there for all of it…we’ll be posting their gorgeous wedding very shortly, but let’s start with their engagement session in Burlington…

A couple of hours frolicking at Fort Stark in Newcastle, New Hampshire with Steve & Meghan. They were naturals…can’t wait to meet up again for their Boothbay Harbor wedding!

Engaged! Sean + Brittany

The following images are of the engagement variety. Sean and Brittany will be getting married next September in Byfield, MA. We are looking forward to that very much! We got to spend a little time getting to know them when we shot their e-session in Boston this fall. We all had a pretty great time exploring Boston Common and Beacon Hill and got some fun shots out of it! We’re happy to know them. :)

Engaged! Jim + Nikki {Prescott Park engagement session}

Can’t believe it was one year and 3 days ago at Chris & Kristin’s awesome wedding that we met Jim and Nikki, dancing the night away! When we spoke to them there they mentioned impending wedding plans and we couldn’t help but feel like a grade-schooler right before a game of kickball, “Ooh, ooh! Pick me, pick me!” And guess what? They did! Of course, without knowing them, these feelings were initially based on visions of this photogenic couple gracing our portfolio. After sitting down to talk about their wedding plans and then hanging out with them for their engagement session in Prescott Park & Strawberry Banke last month (Portsmouth, NH), we very quickly realized just how awesome these two are on the inside, where it really counts! We had such a great time with Jim & Nikki, they were great sports and worked it like pros and we cannot wait for their wedding next September! We only wish you two hadn’t gone into such detail about all the amazing comfort food you have planned, Mmmmm! ;)

Engaged! Kristin + Todd {nh engagement photos}

When we’re waist deep in weddings, we always enjoy breaking it a up a little with some fun engagement sessions. We love getting to know the couples who have entrusted the biggest day of their lives to us and having ample time to make fun pictures of them! This is what we got to do with Kristin and Todd and we had an especially good day with them! The setting was Kristin’s parent’s place in Belmont, NH. 50(ish) acres of rolling fields, apple orchards, ponds, a brook and more woods than you could shake a stick at (ha!). So beautiful! And this is where their wedding will be next August, which we’re very excited for!

As their happy, shiny faces betray, these guys are very much in love and so much fun! We had a fantastic time with them…and their little dog too! ;)

On The Town: Anny + Hung {Boston Lifestyle Photography}

We’re very excited to share this beautiful Boston session! We met Anny and Hung at a wedding in late July (Christina and Arkady’s castle wedding is soon to follow!) and they asked if we would be able to do a couple’s session with them while they were in town. The only hitch is that they were going back home to Houston, Texas in two days. So, we drove down early Monday morning to shoot for a couple hours in the city before they flew away. We had so much fun kicking around Boston with these guys and consider ourselves quite privileged to have gotten to know them a bit. Not only are they the most insanely gorgeous couple but they are kind as could be! A few fun facts: 1. They are newlyweds, married just a couple weeks before we met! 2. Hung is a hard-core athlete (like Iron Man kinda’ stuff! …notice his nod to the tortoise and the hare in one of our images) and 3. Anny is an elementary school teacher with an affinity for thrift store shopping and I would be remiss if I did not mention that her shirt was purchased for $1.00! I don’t think anyone has made Good Will look more beautiful. ;)

Anny and Hung, we hope you had as much fun as we did and we’re so excited to finally share the fruits of our labor with you. Thanks for being such wonderful folks! Enjoy….

Engaged! Nicole + Colin

We are excited to present for your ocular pleasure, the engagement session of Nicole and Colin! It was a joy to photograph these two at Nicole’s parent’s beautiful home in Bartlett, NH. Though the weather was less than ideal (read torrential), we had more than enough to work with given our lovely setting and couple. Nicole chose as one of her outfits, an amazing yellow dress that once belonged to her grandmother and it fits her perfectly. So beautiful!

We want to thank them and Nicole’s family for warmly welcoming us. Can’t wait for their July 4th, 2012 wedding which will be held at the home as well, in the surrounding fields. It’s going to be stunning! Happy engagement guys… :)

Engaged! Ben & Katie

So our engagement session with Ben & Katie in Crawford Notch (in the heart of New Hampshire’s White Mountains) last month taught us a couple of things… 1. Even if it’s warm and sunny where you are, chances are it’s going to be cold and breezy in the mountains, and 2. Ben & Katie are super cool and laid back and we can’t wait for their Mount Washington Hotel wedding next month! Even though it was cold to the point of being uncomfortable, these two rocked it like pros and we actually had a great time with them despite the slightly adverse conditions. We thought we were able to capture a fresh perspective on the ever-popular railroad-themed shoot, tho’ we did stop short of tying anyone to the tracks!

Engaged! Gregg + Rachel – Portsmouth, NH Engagement Photography

So engagement session season is in full swing and we’ve been very much enjoying getting to know and hang out with our awesome 2011 couples! This is one of the best and most important reasons that an engagement photo shoot is such a great idea. It gives us a chance to build a rapport with our soon-to-be brides & grooms, and shows them that getting shot by Birch Blaze is not so bad. In fact, it’s pretty fun! We recently caught up with Gregg & Rachel in one of our favorite places, Portsmouth, New Hampshire for their e-session and let me tell you, they’re super-cool folks! As per usual, we had lots of laughs and lots of fun. Here’s the proof…
