Portland in May

Hey Guys! It’s been a busy spring for us so far and it’s not going to relent anytime soon (it’s me, parenthetical Kerry, by the way). I’m leaving tomorrow morning to go for a 4 day, 3 night excursion with my Son Dylan’s 6th grade class. That’s right, 4 days, 3 nights, 20+ 6th graders… pray for me. We’re going to be visiting Portland Maine, Boothbay Harbor and Acadia Nat’l Park. Gonna stay in hotels with pools and feasting on lobster, so I’m told (how come they never had trips like this when I was in school?!). We actually just got back from Portland, where we attended our 3 day Bible convention. It was stupendous and we got to see a lot of friends we haven’t seen in a while. We took the kids out for their first ever visit to an authentic indian restaurant in the Old Port, the “Hi Bombay,” which I like to say in a conversational tone as if I hadn’t seen Bombay in quite a while. Our waiter was cool and the food was great. We walked around the Old Port’s cobblestoned streets afterwards. Gotta love the Old Port. We didn’t take very many pics ’cause it just wasn’t that kind of a trip, but here’s a few that were fun…

My dah’lins (as our friend Richard would say).

Dylan was all about the pool…as any self-respecting 12 year old would be.

Pool time. Life is good.

This is Taylor’s Cousin Allison’s Husband Chris and thier soon-to-be middle Son (just kidding!) Quinn. Doesn’t he so look like a Quinn?

Jetsam Designs Jewelry

Ok, so I think it’s my turn to drive the blog-mobile for a little while. ;) Though, now that you’re all used to Kerry’s charm, wit, and gloriously superfluous use of parentheses…I hope I don’t disappoint! A few weeks ago, my friend Shannon of Jetsam Designs asked me to photograph some of her jewelry..a task I happily accepted as I haven’t had much opportunity to work with jewelry and her stuff is so beautiful! Her designs are earthy and natural, and many of her pieces feature little sea treasures like shells and sand dollars, it’s pretty fantastic! So, I went through the house searching for things I could use as a backdrop and I ended up with beach rocks, curly willow, a green scarf, and sweet grass, to name a few. If you’d like to see more of Shannon’s work, check out jetsamdesigns.etsy.com …. Here are a few shots for your viewing pleasure (I hope) :)

füd: White Mountain Cider Co.

We have too much fun, really! Another food shoot, this time at the White Mountain Cider Co. in Glen, NH, a short jaunt from North Conway (just a bit past Rt. 302). After you see the pics I won’t have to tell you, but do yourself a favor and get on up to WMCC, the food is amazing! Don’t believe us? Check out this video review by the one and only Phantom Gourmet! Theresa (sharing chef duties with her Husband Scott) was a great host and Jeff (hey, Mr. Bartender!) whipped up some of their signature drinks, some of which involved fire! (always a plus). The restaurant is in an old (but restored) farmhouse and has a great atmosphere. Can’t wait to get back up there to sample more from their incredible menu! (they also have a very cool country store featuring homemade apple cider doughnuts, soups, deli sandwiches, pies and a lot more) Ok, so here’s what we captured…

This is so cool… they actually make their own crackers! How many restaurants do you know that do that?
